The Coach and Horses – The best pub food in Cheshire

Public House in Cheshire

Welcome to The Coach and Horses – a historic country pub in Cheshire set within beautiful  countryside in the village of Timbersbrook near Congleton. The pub has amazing views over the Cheshire plains. The Coach and Horses is affectionately known locally as “The Fair House”  as the local fair took place at this location in the 19th century. The pub has a friendly atmosphere and is frequented by countryside ramblers, visitors to the area and of course the local ‘regulars’.

The pub and restaurant is run by Carol and Mike McCann (and their dog, Sam) who took over from the previous tenants in November 2014. Mike and Carol are committed to serving the finest cask ales, wines and locally sourced pub food on their frequently changing seasonal menu. It is their intention to create the best pub in Cheshire!

The public house is the centre of the Timbersbrook community and depends on the support of local people, so in return Mike and Carol source as many ingredients as they can from farms and businesses close by.

8pm – En Core de Funk

Encore De Funk are a 7 piece collective from the North West. Brought together by their mutual love for Soul/Funk and Acid Jazz, the group decided to embark on project to create original interpretations of contemporary classics, adding in some untouched masterpieces along the way.
Members of Encore De Funk have acquired a vast amount of experience in live performance over the years. They have graced the stages at some of Europe’s top festivals (such as The Cork Jazz Festival, Leeds/Reading Festival and Wakestock).

Sunday 28th August

3pm – Beartown Stompers

The band were originally formed to play in the Congleton Jazz & Blues Festival some years ago and is now a well established band performing easy-going, traditional jazz. Easy on the ear, recognisable tunes and great musicians – one for all the family to enjoy.

7pm – Lindsay Hannon Plus

‘The Lindsay Hannon Plus’ was initially formed in 2012 to give a more substantial platform to music that Lindsay was keen to arrange and perform. Happily, a friend and bass player agreed to join in the enterprise and with piano and keys sourced they have since played very well received gigs in jazz clubs and festivals in and around their native North East.
Rooted in the improvisational tradition of jazz, this engaging band moves from raucous barrel house blues to thoughtful, spacious ballads playing across variety of grooves.

Our ‘take away’ Pizza menu is available 7 days a week from Noon until 10pm (Have a drink in the bar while you wait for your food to be prepared!)

Regular events take place at the pub and in the restaurant – see our events page here on the site for more details.

We now stock a superb range of 26  ‘premium’ gins – including ‘Forest Gin’ made from botanicals sourced in the nearby Macclesfield Forest.
